While with RNL/Charlesgroup, Ron Schafer with Charles Pigg led the design for this unique limited competition in Suzhou, China. The design places the most emphasis on the visitor’s experience and the act of creating a shopping environment that will set itself apart from the competition. We focused on identifying the atriums as vertical neighborhoods where retailers who sell complimentary products would be organized surrounding the atriums, making the different vertical volumes true unique experiences. This organization creates a distinctly advantageous visitor circulation flow for all of the retailers; enticing the shopper to travel vertically rather than the typical horizontal movement pattern.
